Well as far as I'm concerned if you don't do security patch updates on your server then you are at fault and asking for it.
It's just stupid.... they don't even have a Chief Information Security Officer...
They do after the fact, leotards.
So if you don't have a team to keep security happening on your servers, then what do you have?

2nd time you've said leotard. What the fuck does clothing have yo do with it? If youre trying to call them retards, just call them retards. More importantly, if you read reports of people who have actually researched the thing. Credit card numbers are safe, they only got a few things of personal information. So people are blowing up more than it really is. As for people making a lawsuit for the outage, you agree to a contract for using the service that they state can be shut off at anytime with or without notice. Security is security if its outdated or not. Quit the bitching

If they had updated the servers, would they still had been hacked successfully?
If you answered this like i did.... then Sony IS at fault and so are the hackers.

Hypothetical situations are that for a reason. You can't know for sure. Sony may or may not have been hacked with an updated server. Sony was targeted by an asshole, it may have taken him longer but the end result could be the same.

The lawsuit isn't for the service being shut off, it's for lack of security of user information, and all security isn't equal. Just because they had some security doesn't mean that it's enough, clearly. When was the last time you heard of a service losing millions of user's account information? Gawker had something I think but that's the only one I remember. And if you're a huge corporation like Sony where you are entrusted with a shitload of people's private data, it's a no brainer that good security should be a major priority. Otherwise, shit like this happens.
